A little extra chub goes a long way in the wardrobe department

This morning when I woke up, I looked at the date and time on my iphone and realized that dang... its August 29th which means the summer is basically over...which means that despite what the weather report says, its basically fall.  I stared into my closet and all I saw was a flurry of tank tops, shorts and flower print dresses. Suddenly it hit me. "I am going to have to start pulling out my fall clothes really soon... like now." Problem is, I just had a baby 5 months ago and I don't actually fit into any of my fall clothes from last year. Now to that, some would get frustrated at the mere thought of how much weight they gained and how friggin hard its going to be to lose it when your former pregnancy ice cream cravings that led to a full blown sugar addiction is still in full effect. But as for me- gaining weight is not such a bad thing. Why? Well because my friends, gaining weight simply means...

I'M GOING SHOPPING!!!

Now, as a mom of very adorable, yet very needy infant, I don't have time to be scouring through the mall for hours trying to figure out what to buy. This isn't going to be one of those run of the mill,  "I need to find something to wear on Friday night to the club at Forever 21 on State Street"- kind of shopping trips that I used to do with the quickness while in college. Oh no. This is going to take some planning and precise execution.

So I did some fashion week insider research on behalf of all of us hiphousewives on the go, and here is your information resource for the top FALL 2011 Trends that YOU need to know about RIGHT NOW!!

1. Fluff Pieces
For spring we have trench coats and for summer we have cardigans. Outerwear has developed and grown big time every year that passes by, but what do we wear in fall and winter? Fur, of course. Luxurious, elegant, refine and sophisticated, all these describe the woman that you are only through your coat. (www.dailyfashionandstyle.com)

Prada

2. Red Alert
New York Fashion week 2011 had designers seeing RED! There no better way to be sexy and sophisticated than by sporting a cute little red number. Check out this adorable piece!

Costello Tagliapietra

3. The Clash
The new season is placing a heavy emphasis on trendy prints, so if you want to make sure you look super hot this fall/winter 2011  season you'd better hop on the bandwagon and get to mixin' and matchin'!

 Diane Von Furstenberg

4. Long, Lean and Ladylike
Longer silhouettes seem to be having a lasting effect on fashion. Long and lean is here to stay! (www.fashionscandal.com)

Douglass Hannat

5. Mad for Plaid
Always thought plaid should only be used on bedsheets and boxers? Think again and get fab with plaid!

Oscar de la Renta

6. Right Angles
The season’s strongest prints took an über-graphic geometry lesson!

Zero + Maria Cornejo                                          Preen

7. Cloak and Swagger
Whether cropped, hooded, or poncho-style, the wear-everywhere utility jacket emerged as fall’s key outerwear piece. (www.elle.com).

TSE                                   3.1 Phillip Lim

8. Victorian Inspiration
High-neck collars, exaggerated shoulders, and ladylike antique lace channeled the prim and proper style of the gilded age. (www.elle.com)

Badgley Mishka

Now that I am fully informed of where the fall trends are heading, I think I'm ready to go hit the pavement. But like any good housewife, i'm thinkin' - what's a shopping trip without a handy shopping list?

I need....
1. A long and lean trench (or two!)
2. Blouses and dresses in various prints and patterns
3. Some dark denim (that actually fits my post-pregnancy hips), to go with my new blouse prints
4. Some sort of fur stole or accessory piece if not a cropped fur jacket

and last but certainly not least...

5. A sexy red dress for date night :::wink:::

Holla at me and let me know what you think about this year's fall fashions!
